KEYNOTE SPEAKING
āMy first encounter with Richard was at a forum on violence. He was the keynote speaker and spoke on the topic of the angry heart. My heart was moved that day and forever changed after listening to his inspired message. He can help in a profound, unique, and lasting way if given the chance to simply speak.ā

The Art of Stepparenting:
How to Blend Families Without Tearing Them Apart
In America today single parenting, parents of divorce, second and third marriages, step parenting, and blended family realities are the real, more pressing issues and challenges for families in need of support. The family structure experience and how it can affect children towards delinquent behavior has been studied for well over one hundred years. These studies also show that children brought up in single parent, and stepfamilies are more prone to delinquent behavior than children raised by their biological parents. However, these statistics can be overcome. Richard shares his personal story of being raised by a single mother in the barrio of North East Los Angeles, and his experience of being a stepparent for most of his adult life...overcoming the challenges of successfully blending families.
It does NOT take a village to raise a childā¦ it just takes good parenting
Contrary to popular opinion, it does NOT take a village to raise a child. Although well intended, this message to parents was for a different time in a different culture. Unfortunately, the truth is we really donāt know who we can trust in āthe villageā anymore from the Whitehouse, the School House, and the Church House. Richard encourages parents that they are the most important people in the community and in the life of their children. He shares that the community does not build the family, but rather, it is the family that builds the community. Parents learn how community health and safety is a result of parents taking responsibility for raising their children to be respectful, contributing citizens of society.
